Sedgefield Water Polo Club is the leading club for swimming and Water Polo in the North East. It produces many high quality players who go on to play Nationally and Internationally. We ensure professionalism and determine players to realise their full pontential to achieve. It was founded in 1997 by George Carpenter ex England international. From the year 2000 Sedgefield have been one of the strongest clubs in the country, a marvellous achievement considering the small population of Durham compared to big clubs such as Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool and London Invicta. Sedgefield is relatively small and has members from 6-17 years. July 9th 2006 brought the boy’s under 17’s water polo team to the National finals defeating Croydon, Manchester, Dunfermline, London Invicta and Birmingham to get their place, they then successfully beat Cheltenham 10 – 6 to win. We now contribute our best players to our sister clubs of Lancaster City, Carlisle and Tyldesley to ensure success, it’s good to see the smaller clubs doing well in the UK Water Polo community. It is led by ex-GB player Mr George Carpenter who is the chief coach & development officer for the area. Coaches; George, Martin, Stuart, Greg, Rudolf and Lee.
